About Us

The Lakewood Lightning is a summer swim team that has an 8 week season from the first week of May until the last weekend in June each year.

First pre-season practice is April 7, and the First official Day of practice is April 13.

The Lightning is for families with children aged 5-18 years, you must have a current membership level in the Lakewood Residents Club to participate. In the pool, Lightning coaches work on teaching correct stroke technique in all four strokes, swimming skills like dives and turns, and improving endurance. The coaches also emphasize teaching the value of sportsmanship and team spirit - all in a fun and friendly environment. Swimmers compete in swim meets against other teams in the Northwest Aquatic League each Saturday.

Fees for 2026:

There will be no fees for swim team this year. However, you will still need a membership in the LRC. Family sponsorships are still available, and if you know of a company or group that may want to sponsor, please let us know.

Summer league swimming is a "family" sport. Parents are an integral part of the success of the team as the Lakewood Lightning are a volunteer lead, and run, organization.

We are completely run by volunteers and with donations! If you'd like to volunteer or donate, please reach out to us at [email protected]

A letter from our President:
Greetings and Happy Day Lakewood Forest Residents!

I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates about the fantastic happenings at the Lakewood Residents Club. This message aims to inspire you to explore and consider becoming a part of the fun this summer.

A small (but growing!) group of dedicated Lakewood Lightning Swim Team volunteers have been diligently working on improvements at the LRC. Those improvements include painting outdoor furniture, staining and enhancing the fence, power washing, revamping the pool (which looks stunning!), and undertaking various initiatives to elevate the LRC experience. As you're aware, it's a club run by its members, dedicated to fostering community involvement, enjoyment, and a strong sense of neighborhood camaraderie.

Do you recall those carefree summers of riding bikes, playing with friends, and basking in the sun? Remember having neighborhood pals, forming a tight-knit group where neighbors felt like family? While some lament changes in neighborhoods and childhood experiences, we, the residents of Lakewood Forest, celebrate a different old-fashioned way of life. Why? Because we're fortunate to reside in a neighborhood with a clubhouse that embodies everything reminiscent of our childhoods. We've cultivated an incredible environment where families can reconnect, create lasting memories, and provide a place for kids to simply be kids.

Exciting plans lie ahead, and you have the opportunity to witness and participate in them! The Lakewood Lightning Swim Team offers an enriching opportunity for families by offering a close-knit community where children not only learn invaluable life skills, but also forge lifelong friendships.

Our dedication to family and our children fuels our commitment to continuously enhance the LRC experience, making it the best it can be. And the good news? We're stronger than ever, with a growth trajectory unseen in the past five years. We want YOU to be a part of this momentum!

If you have any questions or if your children want to join the outdoor fun, don't hesitate to reach out. We have a bustling community of boys and girls always playing (safely!) whenever the weather permits. All kids are welcome!

I'm just one of the many members eager to share the incredible things happening at LRC and the remarkable efforts of our members. Come join us in making memories and building a vibrant community together.
